The new school year is upon us. In the upcoming months, you’re going to find that there’s a lot of homework, notes, and study material to keep up with and organize. The Internet can be a great tool when it comes to staying on track, but the endless study tools can be overwhelming. Here are some sites I thought were particularly helpful to get you kickstarted into a successful 2015-2016 school year.

1. YouTube

When you browse this site, you might only come across funny videos, music, ect. However, if used in the right way, YouTube can be a very helpful tutor when it comes to math, science, and finance–just to name a few. Finding videos and channels that work for your study needs might be a little difficult, but they could prove helpful. Check out Khan Academy for sure.

2. Quizlet

Ever need flash cards or help organizing study material? Quiz Notes helps you do just that. It’s a free service that supplies templates to make personal study guides and note cards. It’s also great for group sharing because multiple students can link to one account, help work on notes and have access to study at the same time. For you auditory learners: There’s even a feature that reads whatever notecards you’ve created.

3. Chegg

Chegg is a service that helps save a few dollars on popular textbooks. In addition, this website also offers help from tutors and has a community forum for confusing material. If you’re struggling with a concept or a homework problem, you can post it on the forum and most of the time someone in the community will post helpful solutions. They also have online sessions with tutors, but only so many hours are free before you will have to start paying.

Before accessing these sites, it would be a good idea to go to your professor for help, or visit the the TLC office in the student center. But in the event that your professors are unaccesible and you need a quick fix (say midnight before that lab is due), these sites will definitely make your life a lot easier.
