Collecting converters, a catalyst for fun!
Happy Wednesday U-Fam! If you could lend me your ears for a moment, I’d love to tell you all about my favorite hobby and maybe even get y'all into it too!
Now, when you hear that someone is starting a collection, you may think of a few things like stamps, coins, models or maybe some other lame thing! However, I like to keep things interesting, so for the last few years, I have been searching the parking lots late at night for additions to my growing collection of catalytic converters!
You may be wondering what a catalytic converter actually is and that’s a question I ask myself often. What I do know is that they look pretty cool and that’s enough for me! If you see someone in a mask stumbling around the parking lot and sliding under cars, guess what, you caught me indulging in a little late-night fun! Big cars, small cars, slow cars, fast cars — you name it — I’ve got a catalytic converter from it! Like a farmer joyously harvesting his crops when the season is right, I eagerly check each new car in the parking lot for a converter that I haven’t seen yet! One of the best parts of this hobby is that even if I see a converter I already have, I snatch it up because these suckers have good resale value, probably because they look cool.
Now with any collection, you’re sure to accrue a group of haters saying things like, “That’s illegal,” “Hey, what are you doing under there,” and, “Take whatever you want, just let me get my baby out of the car first,” but you can’t let things like that get to you. You’ve got to persevere.
The best news is that I’m not the only one who collects these. There are more like-minded hobbyists looking to add to their own collection. Other “Catty Collectors,” as we call ourselves, are friendly and enjoy helping others get into the hobby — all you have to do is find them when they’re collecting and ask nicely for them to give you a rundown on the hobby! Catalytic converter collecting may seem like it's a hard hobby to get into, but when you’ve got a community as nice as ours, and a hobby that gives back as much as you put into it, you can see why myself and others love going hunting for these little trinkets on a nightly basis.
If you’ve got questions please let me know and remember, everything I write is completely true and is to be taken absolutely seriously. Hope you’re having a great week and if your car seems louder all of a sudden, Mason says hello!
