Dr. Yamileth Bazan to speak at Family Worship
Union College is excited to welcome Dr. Yamileth Bazan to our campus for Friday night’s “Family Worship” vespers, hosted by Campus Ministries (CM), this Friday, Nov. 10.
Bazan comes to us from California, where she serves as Loma Linda University’s (LLU) Associate Dean of Student Affairs for the School of Medicine. In this role, she oversees “the services and activities that support and ensure the academic, personal and professional development of medical and graduate students.”
Bazan has served the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s higher education system for several years. Before coming to LLU, she served as vice president of student life at La Sierra University and the Associate Youth Director of the Southeastern California Conference. While Bazan was born in Cuba, she came to the United States at 8 years old and grew up as a pastor’s kid. Before entering church leadership, she served as a middle school teacher and even a missionary. She is also an ordained minister. Banaz has a bachelor’s in liberal studies and a master’s degree in administration and leadership from La Sierra University. She received her doctorate in Diversity and Student Development from Andrews University. Bazan is married and has one child; her husband and son share the name Daniel.
Bazan loves working with young people and has organized youth activities for many different demographics. “Her passion is to set the record straight about God and the Truth we hold so dear.”
Students interested in hearing Dr. Bazan speak are invited to join CM for Friday night's “Family Worship” in Woods Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
