Organization is key!

A good amount of people have at least once in their life heard the words, “be organized” or, “stay organized" either from parents, friends or even from their own professors. However, how do you stay organized when your life is filled with studying, work, classes and a social life?

Have a designated calendar

To many, this may sound funny since there’s calendars everywhere — in the classroom, lobby and even teachers' offices. However, having your own personal calendar has many benefits. One of these would be that you are able to see what might be coming up. It could be tests, quizzes, homework, school events or even personal matters. Being able to visualize these things allows you to make important decisions and plan ahead. Using things such as Google Calendar or even the one on Canvas will help in staying organized and ahead.

Reminders

It sounds pretty simple. Reminders on your phone, laptop, iPad or even on paper play a crucial role in helping you stay organized. Reminders, as the name suggests, help remind you about things that you need to do sooner or later. It could be from school-related things or even like picking up a present for that special person. Students usually use reminders to help with homework time or even planning study sessions. Having a reminder helps save you time, effort and the hassle of trying to remember what you had planned either recently or a long time ago.

Time management

We’ve all heard the phrase, “time is money;" however, some people fail to realize how true this is. Time management is the key to whether or not you finish something. An example could be spending time with friends and having a good time. While spending time with friends is great, if you don’t manage your time properly there’s a high possibility that you might not be able to do something that you had planned out. It could be from missing out on your appointments or failing to properly study for your test! Not studying for a test will definitely lead to poor performance and eat a chunk out of the grade. It is important to manage time wisely. The best way for this is to equally divide time for school and outside of school, like having one day of fun on the weekend while the other is reserved for studying.

The three points above can be used as a starting place for people who have yet to figure out how they can manage their time in school. More ways to stay organized could be setting deadlines, making priorities and scheduling breaks.
