Union surprises the crowd with late-night volleyball
With mountains of assignments and tests to study for, we can all agree that a small break is essential every now and then. For those volleyball fanatics, or simply anyone who is in long need of a breather, Union College has introduced two nights of the week where anyone and everyone can come together in recreation to participate in the dynamic sport that brings people together: volleyball. Whether or not you’ve played volleyball before, one visit is bound to pique your interest, leading you to anticipate every Monday and Wednesday night. At late-night volleyball, everyone has an opportunity for everything, whether that is playing, spectating, or just coming to hang out. Regardless of if you’re coming for the excitement or the competition, you’re going to have just as much fun. Many people who go every week have stated that after a day of studying and hardships, these are some of the nights where they can de-stress and rejuvenate themselves with others who are also in desperate need of some downtime.
Tiffany Kolibu shared her opinions and experiences as a participant who makes appearances perpetually. She was asked about her opinions on the late-night volleyball events. Her statement included much detail which consisted of the inviting nature of everyone that goes, and how engaging it is for anyone and everyone. Kolibu introduces the opportunity to meet many new people and make a lot of new friends. She states that after a long day, it’s a great chance to loosen up, have fun, and have friendly competition. Kolibu considers late-night volleyball almost like a gift and recommends that everyone should take part in this fun event.
Isabella Peña states, “I wasn’t planning to be a part of it but I just showed up on the first night to watch and I started going to play every night they had it.”
Everyone who takes part in this lively event can meet the friendly and welcoming community of volleyball enthusiasts who embrace newcomers and are willing to assist in the improvement of others’ skills. With non-judgemental attitudes towards those who are foreign to the sport, they are intelligible and quite assertive when it comes to providing positive feedback. Even though you haven’t been as active in the world of volleyball, there is always room to begin and advance with others who may also be in the same boat. As a reminder, late-night volleyball is every Monday and Wednesday night (otherwise indicated on UGroups), from 10 p.m. to midnight. We look forward to welcoming everyone and having a great time together!
