Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park is not suitable for children. The park has these brown cows roaming about, and Kelly, my 9-year-old daughter, was captivated and had to have a picture with one. Everything was fine until Kelly tried to hug the cow, and then it charged us! The park is lucky I was able to grab Kelly and pull her out of the way. My husband misdirected the beast while I took Kelly back to the car.
I am deeply disappointed with how the staff treated us. The rangers were so rude, yelling at us for approaching the “bison.” If they didn’t want my child to touch the animals, they should’ve built a fence or put a big, red sign saying, “the cows have fragile feelings – don’t approach.” My kid is traumatized now and never wants to come back.
The only good thing I have to say about the park is that the food at the Old Faithful Lodge was decent. Again, though, they wouldn’t even let us feed the animals, and why would we want to after the nightmare of the morning?
I rate the overall experience with 3/10 stars, and that is being generous. Yellowstone National Park is such a scam. They have the worst trained animals, and we didn’t even get to see any giraffes. So no, I would not recommend visiting Yellowstone National Park, ever. You’re much better off spending your time and money at an aquarium.
