“I came here strictly for the IRR program. A last minute sort of search, looking for a hybrid degree with search and rescue involved. Coming out of the Coast Guard I wanted to continue down the operational path. I kept searching and had gotten to a point where I gave up and was looking for medical school or journalism school, something I can take internationally and do investigative work. I couldn’t find anything. Then I took one last look and found [Union] on FEMA. When I saw it I was kinda skeptical and started looking into it and then was really sold. Like, ‘okay, that’s what I’m doing. I’m going there for that.’”
“My plans are to finish up here, in hopefully two years, and go back to Oregon and get my residency established there again. Then I plan to start my masters program in public health epidemiology, that’s a two year program. So get my masters, start working and simultaneously work on a doctorate in epidemiology.”
