And Now This
S.S. Sports
This has been one very interesting week in the NFL. There has been a lot going on in the NFL, which is why I’ve devoted my first articles to it. In the future, I will write about other subjects as well. There was more Antonio Brown drama, and the Jets are in a lot of trouble. On Sept. 19, Nike dropped Brown as a sponsored athlete because of the sexual misconduct and rape allegations against him from two different women. On the very next day, he was released from the Patriots after only being with them for 11 days. Brown had sent texts to one of the two women who had said he abused her and that the women’s lawyer was characterized as “threatening” and “intimidating.” This violates the new NFL Personal Conduct Policy, which states that any violations of the policy will result in banishment from the NFL. A day after being released, Brown tweeted that he will not be playing in the NFL any longer: “Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up !” he wrote. He will now need to meet with NFL investigators so that they may make a ruling on whether or not Brown will be prosecuted for his conduct, and whether or not he will be getting paid the guaranteed money in his contracts with the Raiders and Patriots that those teams have since rescinded.
When the New York Jets lost Sam Darnold to mononucleosis earlier this month, it was a big loss because he was going to miss a lot of games. But the Jets planned to use their backup quarterback, Trevor Siemian. On Monday night Siemian made his debut against the Browns, but midway through the second quarter he left with an ankle injury and will not return for the rest of the season. The Jets turned to third-string backup quarterback Luke Falk, but his abilities are far below those of Darnold or even Siemian. However, he is the Jets’ only solution for now, although Sam Darnold will likely see the field again this season.
Tune in next week to see what happens to Antonio Brown, and to learn about what’s going on throughout the rest of the sports world! There’s always drama, but hopefully things clear up for everyone soon.
