Campus Wide Hide Fugitive
On the night of Oct. 5, ASB decided to test run a new event. Going by the name of Fugitive, the event allowed various faculty and ASB officers to hide across campus. After giving them time to hunt for cover, the students formed groups to search for those that hid. To spice things up, the lights were off in many of the buildings, making things far more difficult. The majority of the campus was available for searching (except for Larson, the dorms, and the AdventSource building), so there was a lot of ground to cover, especially with the hour-long time limit looming over their heads.
Garret Dupper relayed his experience: “I think it was a lot of fun. It was interesting finding new places or rooms on campus I didn’t even know existed before. The best hiding spot I found was in Engel Hall. It was in the photo booth, in the closet in there. I would absolutely do it again if it were to continue!”
Luke Santos followed up with his favorite hiding spot to discover: “There was a guy lodged under the staircase in Krueger. It took us forever to find him! It was a great experience, I would do it again.”
To monitor those who found the most people, stickers were given by the hiders and then were tallied up: red stickers, representing two points, were awarded to the team who were the first to find the person. Any group after that was given one point, represented by a black sticker. The winners were awarded gift cards.
I, personally, agree. ASB Fugitive was a total blast, at least from the perspective of the searcher. Although I think the hiding locations were incredibly creative, our editor-in-chief Jovan took the cake! I’m grateful ASB took a shot in the dark (literally) with a new event. It paid off and I hope it is an event that continues in the future
