Roca Berry Farm remains one of Lincoln’s most popular pumpkin patches: Finding fall outdoor activities despite COVID-19
It is pumpkin season! There are pumpkin patches popping up around Lincoln, coffee shops are breaking out the pumpkin spice and families are carving up the spookiest pumpkins and roasting their seeds with the best spices possible. Roasted pumpkin seeds are amazing.
If you have never gone to a pumpkin patch for fun, you are missing out. When you go to a pumpkin patch, you may actually get away from cornfields. But aside from that, this is the time when you can walk around with friends or a date or anyone who you enjoy being around and walk through the pumpkins and choose your own. There is a pumpkin patch that is pretty close called Roca Berry Farm with an amazing pumpkin field. It is only about 20 minutes away from Union College. They have games, pig races, goats, a corn maze, amazing food (check out that apple cider slushie!), pumpkins to buy and many other things.
When you go to a pumpkin patch, you get the chance to pick your own pumpkin. Which pumpkin will you carve into a masterpiece? Which one is destined to be turned into a piece of art? Which one will you turn into the face of your RA?
Along with the pumpkin patches, there is also something that shows its face around this time of year. Pumpkin spice. This can be found where all seasonal drinks can be found. Starbucks itself is making three drinks devoted to the spice. A pumpkin spice Latte, a pumpkin spice Frappuccino and a pumpkin spice foam to place on top of all your favorite drinks. The Mill is also doing something similar where you can add the sweet spice to any drink you desire. They also sell coffee beans and K-cups with pumpkin spice flavors so you can take the spice to your own home.
Pumpkin spice is something that is not affected by COVID-19. It's able to remain a staple of the season. I suppose this means that it is officially my favorite season of the year.
