You may think you know all there is to know about your iPhone, but Apple has planted some secret features for you to discover. Here are some cool iPhone hacks that may come as a surprise.

Erase text with a shake

Next time you type out a long message only to then want to delete every word, there’s an easier method than backspacing the whole thing. You can just give your phone a shake, to which an  “undo text” box will pop up. Simply shake again to retrieve the text.

Backspace on the calculator

Enter the wrong number on the calculator? Swipe left or right over the numbers to delete the last digit.

Quickly free up space

Most of us face a constant battle with phone storage. When you’re in a pinch and can’t delete any of your 7,000 pictures, power off your phone. When you turn it back on, you’ll have a little extra space.

Charge your phone faster

I know you’ve been in a situation where you’re running out the door only to realize your phone is almost dead. You have ten minutes to secure as much battery juice as possible. Next time, turn on airplane mode and your phone will charge faster.

Make your phone read to you

Ever get tired of reading what’s on your phone? With an easy setting change, iOS will read aloud the words on your screen. Go to settings, then accessibility, then spoken content to activate “speak screen.” Now, whenever you want to be read to, swipe down from the top of the screen using two fingers.

Set a timer for your music

Whether you’re trying to study, workout, or fall asleep, music can help you focus on the task at hand. You can create a playlist that’s the perfect length, or you can set a timer for your music. To do this, first start your music, go to the timer app, select “when timer ends,” then scroll to the bottom to select “stop playing.”
