Fun Fall Hikes Near Lincoln, Nebraska!

Get Out There and Enjoy Fall!

Fall is the best time to get outside and explore nature, especially around Lincoln, Nebraska.The air is cool and the leaves turn amazing colors. Lincoln might be known for being pretty flat, but you can still find some great hiking spots nearby. Some might take a little drive to get to, but the pretty views make it totally worth it! Here are some awesome places to hike this fall.

 Wilderness Park
Just south of Lincoln is Wilderness Park, another great hiking spot.The trails wind through quiet woods along Salt Creek, making it feel like a peaceful escape. The trails are pretty easy, so they’re good for everyone! And in the fall, the trees are so pretty with color. With over 1,400 acres to explore, i bet you’l l definitely find a trail you love!

 Pioneers Park Nature Center
If you want to stay close to town, check out Pioneers Park Nature Center! It’s more on the west side of Lincoln and has over 8 miles of trails through prairies, woods, and wetlands! You can see deer, bison, and lots of birds! The fall leaves make everything extra pretty, and the ponds reflect all those amazing colors! It’s perfect for a relaxing walk and even has nice picnic spots too.

Mahoney State Park
Another great spot near Lincoln is Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, and it is just a short drive away! This park has trails for all levels, with beautiful views of the Platte River and the surrounding trees! As you walk, you’ll be surrounded by bright, colorful leaves,so don’t forget to bring your camera and gets some cool pictures this fall!

 Platte River State Park
Platte River State Park is only about 30 minutes away and offers a little more adventure! You’ll find more trails that lead to pretty waterfalls cool overlooks! They also have an observation tower—it has an really awesome view of the river and the colorful fall trees! The trails can be a little more challenging for some, but the views will make it all worth it in the end!

 Indian Cave State Park
Indian Cave State Park is about an hour and a half away, but it's SO worth the drive! This park has a cool sandstone cave and over 22 miles of hiking trails. You’ll be able to go through forested hills and along the Missouri River. In the fall, the hills are full of really amazing colors—some of the best fall views you’ll find!

Whether you stay close to Lincoln or take a little road trip, there are tons of great spots to enjoy the fall season.With a little exploring, you’ll find that there’s a lot more to see than just flat fields around lincoln.
