Cash Dive

SA unites campus with $1,000 challenge

Union Adventist University’s Student Association team turned heads this past Saturday with its most daring mind blowing and talked about event yet. “Splash for Cash,” held at Larson Lifestyle Center’s pool on Sept. 14, the event featured $1,000 in cash dropped into the water in waves as eager hungry students dove in to collect the money. The concept was simple. Swim fast, grab cash. The execution was far more entertaining than anyone could have ever predicted. Students arrived early, suited up, and were ready to win it all and fight for their share of the prize. Rather than dumping the entire amount in one go, SA released money into the pool in timed intervals throughout the evening. Each release triggered a flurry of dives, splashes and laughter as swimmers hunted down soaked wet bills before the next drop. In the days leading up to the event, SA made sure students were well-informed. Promotional flyers, announcements were made, and word of mouth kept the campus community engaged. The SA team also used social media to tease the event, posting cryptic countdowns and pool themed graphics that built anticipation Splash for Cash wasn’t just about the money it was about creating a memory that students could look back on as a highlight of the semester.”

While the idea may have seemed chaotic, it was carefully planned. Lifeguards were present for safety, and SA ensured that everyone had a fair shot. Students who arrived early and could swim well certainly had an advantage, but even those standing poolside were drawn into the energy of the event.

The event followed a successful run of activities led by SA earlier in the semester, including slip n’ slide kickball, a flag football night at 49ers Field. The chilly evening was warmed up by hot chocolate, popcorn, bonfires and free T-shirts. That event, like “Splash for Cash,” was designed to foster school spirit and community while offering something active and engaging.

SA has consistently proven it knows how to balance fun and inclusivity. Whether it’s a game of flag football or a money-filled pool party, the organization has found creative ways to bring students together early in the semester. With “Splash for Cash” making waves across campus, students are already wondering what SA will roll out next. If this past weekend is any indication, the group plans to keep the energy high and the surprises coming.
