Writing About Writing

Bear with me please, because I want to tell you something about writing

How it can be really easy one minute, and really difficult the next

How I seem to think of all of my best ideas when

I'm where writing is definitely not the thing to do at the moment

How I sit down to write those ideas that were so close before

But they run away that second and take ages to come back

How lots of people say that writing is easy

But they've never written something worth reading

How do they not understand that I have a story I've been working on for five years

But I'm still on the first chapter

How I can be really good at one type of writing and really bad at others

How writing isn't cut and dried, copy and paste, and easy to figure out right away

How there is always a thesaurus tab, a dictionary tab, and spellcheck running

because writers don't know everything about words like you think we do

How I want to tell you that I like writing

But sometimes I don't, and I'm always still learning

Bear with please, because I want to tell you something about writing

How even though when you ask me anything at all about it

I will immediately lose all of the words

and not be able to say a single thing
