5 Ways to Embrace the Fall Vibes
1. “Fall” Themed Baked Goods
Whether it’s pumpkin muffins, apple pie or snickerdoodle cookies, bake something that gets you in the spirit of fall. There are many recipes online or on Pinterest to test out on a chilly day. Invite your friends and make a whole day of it! Once you’re done baking, watch a movie and enjoy the final product!
2. Go on an Adventure
During the fall, Nebraska has many options for those looking for an adventure. First, there are several different pumpkin patches and apple orchards to visit. Some pumpkin patch local favorites are Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Gretna, Roca Berry Farm in Roca and Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch in Papillion. Apple Orchard favorites include Martin’s Hillside Orchard in Ceresco and Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard Educational Foundation in Nebraska City. If you want something more active, there are hiking trails around the Omaha area. Heron Haven Nature Center located in Omaha and Platte River State Park are a couple to check out. Lastly, keep your eyes out for various festivals and markets happening around Nebraska.
3. Find the Perfect Scent
One of the best things about fall is being surrounded by scents such as cinnamon sugar, apples, eucalyptus and cedarwood. Nothing gets me in the festive mood more than lighting the perfect candle. If you live in the dorm and can’t light candles, you can use an essential oil diffuser, diffuser sticks or an electric wax warmer. These can all be bought online or in stores such as Target or Walmart.
4. Enjoy a Hot Drink
Fall is the perfect time to drink your favorite flavored latte or decaffeinated drinks such as hot chocolate chai tea. Let yourself indulge in the wonderful flavors of fall. There are many local coffee shops around Lincoln, such as The Mill, Crescent Moon Coffee, Rock-N-Joe, Cultiva Downtown or The Bay. Whether you want to discover new coffee shops or stay in with your choice of hot drink and cozy blanket, you won’t be disappointed!
5. Go on a Road Trip
One of my favorite things to do during the fall is to visit new places. Choose a weekend that works best for you and get out of Lincoln! Load up your car with good friends, music and snacks to start your road trip off right. Chicago is about 8 hours away, Colorado is about 7 hours away and Missouri is about 6 hours away. School can be stressful, but don’t let that hinder you from making memories that will last a lifetime.
