Almost Anything Goes… and Then Bowling!

Bowling Night Builds Community Beyond Campus Life

Two weeks ago, Union’s Thunderdome gym turned chaotic Saturday night after students arrived to participate in “Almost Anything Goes,” a school activity organized by the Student Association. Every class was involved, from freshmen to sophomores to juniors and even seniors as well. Multiple games were played that night, which included junk scramble, tug of war, human hula-hoop, and so much more. “Almost Anything Goes” brought out the competitive spirit of every class.

Once the wild rush of “Almost Anything Goes” ended, most folks figured that the Student Association would run out of ideas, but yet again, they didn’t disappoint. Instead, last weekend, they decided to shift gears and collaborate with residential life in hosting a bowling night. Bowling was a very chaotic night, but while some swapped last-minute chaos for strike after strike on the lanes, laughter stayed front and center. Fun wasn’t pausing, it was just changing pace. “Almost Anything Goes” helped set the tone for last weekend’s event, which helped keep up the fast-paced games, spontaneous laughs, and friendly competition. This event was a clear reminder that campus life is more than just textbooks, lectures, and exams. It was a clear reminder that campus life is where memories are built between cheers, unexpected victories, and so much more. The bowling alley came alive the moment students stepped through the doors at 8:00 pm. Music echoed across the lanes, bowling balls crashed into pins, and groups cheered wildly every time someone finally figured out the perfect approach. What made Bowling Night special was that it wasn’t about competition; it wasn’t about being the best or showing off the perfect score. It was about taking time to relax after a long week of classes, homework, and deadlines. It was about connecting with roommates, classmates, new friends, or even people who were just looking for another great weekend memory.

By the end of the night, many students walked out with tired arms, having experienced many moments, an abundance of memories, and a few photos of questionable bowling forms that will definitely resurface later. The glow sticks, which were provided, might have faded, but the laughter and shared memories certainly did not. Bowling night proved that when the Union community comes together, even something as simple as knocking down pins turns into an unforgettable experience. If this weekend taught us anything, it’s that the semester still has plenty of excitement ahead.
