Here are the most-anticipated films releasing this year:
Tron: Ares - October 10: Picking up where Tron: Legacy left off, Tron: Ares follows the star-studded cast, bringing the digital world of Tron into the real world for the first time. While the super-intelligent A.I., played by Jared Leto, fights back against its creator, Evan Peters, humanity must find a way to survive in the midst of the program threatening its existence. Once again, humanity will face the consequences of its actions if the A.I. army cannot be stopped.
Regretting You - October 24: Adapted from the Colleen Hoover novel of the same title, this new film stars McKenna Grace, Mason Thames, and more in a wild story. Centering around a tragic event that puts a strain on a torn-apart family, secrets are uncovered that can either break their bonds or bring them closer together.
Wicked: For Good - November 21 - The final act of the Wicked story will finally arrive in November. Fans of musical theatre, film, and Jonathan Bailey will be able to witness the story come to a close on the big screen as Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) will finally take their bows on this story alongside Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey). For those who have never seen the Broadway production, this act follows the plot of The Wizard of Oz, adding a few unexpected twists of its own to keep fans on their feet. Viewers are sure to be in tears by the end of the film, accompanied by awe at Erivo and Grande’s vocals. This film is sure to captivate audiences worldwide, and perhaps even the attention of the Academy itself.
Zootopia 2 - November 26: The sequel to the 2016 film, Zootopia 2 reintroduces Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) in what is sure to be a crime-infested yet light-hearted mystery. The cop rabbit and fox duo are said to be hunting down an unknown reptile who is leaving chaos in the city. Nick and Judy must catch him before it is too late and the city is left in ruin. The film will bring tons of laughs and heartfelt moments, so don’t miss out on this one!
Avatar: Fire and Ash - December 19: The third film of the Avatar franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, resumes the plot of the previous film in an effort to continue the series. While a year has passed since Jake and Neytiri's family joined the Metkayina Clan, they find themselves still grappling with the death of their oldest son, Neteyam. However, the family is forced to come to terms. Finding themselves engaging with an aggressive foe, the Ash People – who are allied with Jake’s old enemy, Quaritch – Jake’s family is once again at the edge of war. The story continues to build in an epic way as Pandora is engulfed in conflict with sides drawn between Jake and Quaritch. Despite the late release date, this is the third of the five-film series, with two more in the making, so Avatar fans must see this film!
There is something for everyone in the upcoming months, so go and catch these movies when they come out in theaters!
