Nebraska’s Farmers’ Markets Are Back—And Here’s Why You Should Go!
Spring in Nebraska means one thing—farmers’ markets are back! After months of cold, gray weather, the streets are finally coming alive again with fresh produce and homemade goods. Whether you're in downtown Lincoln or College View, these markets are the perfect weekend tradition. Plus, they’re a great way to support small businesses, eat fresh, and connect with the people growing our food!
If you’ve never been to the Historic Haymarket Farmers’ Market, now is your chance! Starting May 3 and running through October 11, 2025, this market takes over 7th and P Streets every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It’s one of the biggest and best-known markets in the state, and for good reason!
Walking through the Haymarket with friends, getting coffee, stopping at stands filled with homemade jams, fresh-cut flowers, and local honey—there’s nothing like it! Vendors are super passionate about what they do, and it’s so cool to hear their stories. The market officially kicks off at 8:00 a.m., and from there, there are so many delicious smells, live music, and an overall good time!
Pro tip: Parking can be a bit chaotic, so get there early or be prepared to walk a little. That’s just a sign of how much people love this market!
If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, the College View Farmers’ Market is the move. Open every Sunday from April 27 through October 26, 2025, this market runs 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church parking lot (4801 Prescott Ave).
This market is smaller, but it has a cozy, neighborhood feel that makes it just as special. Vendors focus on organic and sustainably sourced products, so you can stock up on fresh produce, grass-fed meats, dairy, and even handmade goods! There’s also live music from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and even free yoga at 10:00 a.m!
Yes, farmers’ markets are fun—but they’re also SO important. Shopping at local markets keeps money in the community and supports small-scale farmers who rely on direct sales. Plus, buying local means less waste and fewer emissions since the food isn’t traveling thousands of miles to reach you. Many vendors also use organic and regenerative farming methods, which are better for the environment. Its a really cool process!
It’s also just nice to know where your food comes from! When you buy a loaf of bread or a jar of homemade salsa at a market, you’re not just getting food- you’re getting a persons story, a connection, and a chance to support someone’s passion.
If you haven’t been to one of Lincoln’s farmers’ markets yet, you’ll find fresh produce and cool handmade goods, And if you’re up for a little adventure? Omaha has some amazing farmers’ markets too! It’s a bit of a drive, but totally worth it for a Saturday road trip with friends.
As spring rolls in, let’s show up for Nebraska’s farmers’ markets. They’re good for the economy, good for the environment, and honestly, just a really fun way to spend a weekend morning. See you there!
