Small groups launch on campus
People who are new to campus may wonder what small groups are. It is a Residential Life program that takes place once a week at different times ensuring all students can find a group that coincides with their interests. These groups have the sole purpose of helping students find social and spiritual connections in the residential community.
This year, the women have eight small groups that will all be launching by September 2nd. The deans are heading up the program by hosting a Pop-In Small Group. They have described it as a group that is “focused on building community while crafting together.” They encourage participants to “pop-in” and do a craft, have a snack, or share in meaningful conversation. There is also another small group called Hooked on Happiness that focuses on yarn and needlecrafts hosted by Katie Zeismer.
For residents of Culver and Prescott, Caleb Tam and Jonah Zwiefel are leading a disc golf small group that meets biweekly on Tuesdays. There is also a ping-pong group or a cooking small group that could pique students’ interest. If students are interested in delving deeper into the Word, Conner Coe or Ethan Needles and Fernando Montes are hosting weekly Bible studies on Wednesday nights.
The Residential Life team is hoping these programs will help enrich students’ experience at Union Adventist University this year. There is a small group for everyone.
