UCrew makes worship trip
Worship, travel, honoring God, devotional thought
Worship is defined as the display of reverence or adoration for a deity. Now, that’s a pretty broad definition, isn’t it? Within the Christian umbrella, worship can mean different things for different people. It’s something that we hear constantly in hymns, worship songs, psalms, or on the pulpit. It sometimes feels so easy to go with the flow of worship and not think much about it. Sometimes, we may make worship seem more like a chore rather than something we get to do.
The point of worship is to express our love for our Creator, and as we're halfway through our semester, it’s a good lesson for us to remember. There are many fun ways to worship and more fun ways to implement your passions into it. Whether it’s writing, art, singing, or any other outlet, there are many ways we have to worship God every day.
Campus Ministries (CM) is staffed with many willing people who dedicate their time to ensure our university has a full spiritual life while at school. Most of the time, CM is planning for events such as uGather and Family worship, but there’s also another, unique branch. UCrew, a branch of Campus Ministries, was established with the goal of traveling to other churches to worship. On October 18, some of our students got the opportunity to go out and provide worship through music to another church through this program.
The idea of going out and worshiping in front of a lot of people may seem really intimidating, but it’s a great way for students to take their passion for music and spreading of the gospel beyond Lincoln. This can just be one of the ways that students at Union can use their passions and talents to glorify God.
Whether your way of worship is some unique concept no one’s ever thought of before or volunteering to sing for a service, if your heart’s in the right place, God will see it. The best part is that you aren’t limited to just one form. You could take a walk, do a deep Bible study, talk about God with your friends, or even just pray to God in your room.
Truly worshiping God and sharing that blessing with others can seem like a scary thing at first. We’re scared of how other people will perceive us. But if we have the heart and the willingness, then God will help us out with the rest of it.
